  • SMART Camp Registration Open!
Registration is now open! The LASA HS Robotics Team presents Science, Math, and Robotics Technology (SMART) Camp for elementary and middle school-aged students. Please join us on Saturday, June 28, 2014 or August 9th, 2014 for a 2-hour session building robots and accomplishing tasks with LEGO® Mindstorms® kits. We welcome brand-new beginners as well as repeat and advanced campers who want more time working with the award winning LASA Robotics team members in a challenging and supportive environment.

Programming campers (age 8-14) will work in small teams with LASA Robotics Mentors to build a basic LEGO Mindstorms robot and learn to write basic programs to accomplish simple tasks. In this session campers will learn how to control motors, program sensors, and learn to effectively use them. This session is highly recommended for students who have little or no Mindstorm experience.

Strategy/Building campers (age 10-14) will work in small teams with LASA Robotics Mentors on challenges to design, build, and program robots to complete a given design task. This session is a mock 6-week robotics build session where students will be presented with a game task, will work with mentors to brainstorm solutions, and will design, build, and program a robot to solve the task. At the end of the session, student teams will compete with each other with their built robots. This session is not recommended for students who have little or no Mindstorm experience.

Camps will be held on Saturday, June 28th and again on August 9th at Zavala Elementary School located at 310 Robert Martinez, Jr. St. Austin, TX 78702 . All campers will receive a snack and a very cool LASA Robotics SMART Camp T-shirt!
